Watch Care

IPSÉITÉ attaches the greatest importance to the quality of the materials that make up your watch. A few precautions for use and maintenance will allow you to preserve the aesthetic and functional condition of your watch for a long time.

Cleaning your watch

Check first that the crown of the watch is correctly screwed down or pushed in. Clean the watch with soapy water and a toothbrush then rinse thoroughly. Dry with a soft cloth.

For a more basic cleaning, you can simply use a micro-fiber cloth towel.

The water resistance of your watch

WHAT IS WATERPROOFING?

This is a protection against the penetration of dust and water into the watch. This protection is ensured by a set of seals, which it is advisable to renew every two years in order to to guarantee optimal security.

Most Ipséité watches are waterproof. This feature is specified in the watch's data sheet.

SOME RECOMMENDATIONS

We do not recommend immersing your watches in any liquids, although they are resistant to them.

High temperature water
It is imperative not to wear a watch in saunas, steam rooms, showers, baths, in order to avoid deterioration of the seals due to high temperature.

Seawater
Rinse the watch with fresh water after each immersion in seawater to prevent the salt from damaging the seals.

Screw Crown Watches
For watches with a screw-down crown, check that the crown is fully screwed down before immersing it in water

If you take a shower wearing a 5 bar waterproof watch, or a bath wearing a 10, 15 or 20 bar waterproof watch, consider the following points:

Make sure the crown is pushed in all the way.

Do not operate the crown when the watch is wet with soapy water or shampoo.

If the watch is left in hot water, a slight time difference may occur, but this condition will be corrected when the watch is replaced at normal temperature.

If used in sea water, rinse in fresh water and dry thoroughly.

Magnetization

WHAT IS MAGNETIZATION?

In watchmaking, magnetization refers to the detrimental effects of magnetic fields on the proper functioning of a watch. These magnetic fields are ubiquitous in our daily lives, being emitted by various devices such as smartphones, digital tablets , induction hobs, speakers and televisions.

WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS ON YOUR WATCH?

When a watch is exposed to a magnetic field, it can disturb its mechanism and cause it to advance or completely stop. Watches with mechanical movements are more sensitive to this phenomenon than watches with automatic movements. due to the susceptibility of certain metal components to magnetization, such as the hairspring or the mainspring, which can stick together and cause malfunctions. However, in most cases, a Once the watch is released from the magnetic field, it will resume normal operation. If it has been exposed to a strong magnetic field for more than 15 minutes, the effects may persist over time and cause the watch to continuously move forward.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR WATCH?

We advise you to keep your watch more than 10 cm away from objects giving off strong magnetic fields.

Redness and allergic reactions

Adjust the bracelet to leave a little slack around your wrist to ensure good ventilation.

On the skin of sensitive people, prolonged and/or repeated contact with the bracelet may cause irritation or even dermatitis.

Possible causes of dermatitis: 1. Allergic reaction to metals and leathers. 2. Rust, soil or perspiration accumulated on the watch.

If symptoms of allergy or skin irritation appear, stop wearing the watch immediately and consult a doctor.

Shock, vibration and chemicals

SHOCKS and vibrations

Be careful not to drop your watch or knock it against hard surfaces and to avoid vibrations as much as possible.

Chemicals

Be careful not to expose the watch to solvents, mercury, cosmetic sprays, detergents, adhesives and paints. Otherwise, the case, bracelet, etc. may discolor, deteriorate or be damaged.

Watch storage locations

Do not leave the watch in a place where it will be subjected to strong magnetism (such as near a TV, speakers or magnetic necklaces) or static electricity for a long time.

Do not leave the watch in a place subject to strong vibrations for a long time.

Do not leave the watch in a very dusty place for a long time.

Do not expose the watch to chemicals or gases. (Ex. Organic solvents, such as benzine and thinner, gasoline, nail polish, cosmetic sprays, detergents, adhesives, mercury and antiseptic solution iodine).
